JACK DE KEYZER TRIO

Canada’s King of the Blues guitar and an acclaimed singer/songwriter and producer Jack needs no introduction to BOTR audiences. This will be a record 10th visit for him since the Series began 16 years ago – the most of any artist. Born in London, England and raised in Hamilton, Ontario Jack learned his amazing guitar chops at an early age. As a teenager he was already playing in bands with famous artists like King Biscuit Boy (Richard Newell) and Rompin’ Ronnie Hawkins. Then he formed his own band and has been going strong ever since. Over his 46 year long career Jack has recorded 12 records including his newest “Tribute” which is up for this year’s Maple Blues Award for Album Of The Year. He and his band have also been nominated for 6 more MBA’s this year including Best Entertainer, Electric Act, Male Vocalist and Guitarist. Jack already has 2 Juno Awards, 7 Maple Blues Awards and an International Songwriting Award to his credit. If you love Chicago Blues, British Blues Rock, Memphis Soul and funky Motown with some Jazzy spices thrown in – all delivered with amazing guitar skill – you’ll love Jack de Keyzer!

Jack usually performs here with his full band but due to the COVID restrictions he’s appearing as a Trio this time around. He will be accompanied by two of his long time band members - Alan Duffy on bass and Richard Thornton on sax (both of whom are up for MBA’s in their respective instrument categories again this year).

Book well ahead for these two shows. They will no doubt sell out as have all of Jack’s BOTR shows in the past.

CHUCK JACKSON TRIO

Here’s another artist who needs no introduction to BOTR audiences. Chuck Jackson – singer/songwriter/harp player/entertainer extraordinaire – has appeared here numerous times with The Hogtown Allstars. He’s also been the lead singer and harmonica player in Canada’s legendary DOWNCHILD Blues Band for the past 30 years winning 2 Juno Awards and multiple Maple Blues Awards over that time. Earlier in his career Chuck fronted Toronto’s famous Cameo Blues Band and he continues to sing and perform in a number of different formats including Chuck Jackson’s All-Stars and Chuck Jackson & The C Notes. He’s also been a key part of Lance Anderson’s big band tribute shows – The Last Waltz (The Band) and Mad Dogs & Englishmen (Joe Cocker). Chuck lists Big Joe Turner, Otis Redding and Junior Wells as his major influences and you can hear parts of all of them in his powerful, soulful performances. In fact when you hear Chuck sing on the tribute album to Big Joe Turner that he did a few years - “A Cup Of Joe” - you’d think that famous Blues Shouter has been reincarnated. Chuck is also the founder and Director of the annual Southside Shuffle in Port Credit, Ontario - one of Canada’s best Blues festivals.

Long time friends Tyler Yarema on keyboards and Pat Carey on saxophone – both members of Downchild over the years and both Maple Blues Award winners – will be accompanying Chuck for these performances.

PAUL REDDICK TRIO

Dinner & Show both nights – 7-10 pm
Born in Toronto Paul began playing the harmonica at age 12. Eventually he became the founder and lead singer/songwriter/harp player of the famous Toronto band The Sidemen who played around Ontario and Canada throughout the ‘90’s and early 2000’s. Their second album “Rattlebag” was nominated for a Juno as well as the American W.C. Handy Award. After The Sidemen broke up Paul went on to a very successful solo career and has become known as Canada’s “Poet Laureate” of the Blues for his unique and enchanting lyrics. He has written and recorded with famous artists like Colin Linden, Tom Wilson, MonkeyJunk and many others. Paul has recorded 10 of his own albums and been nominated for multiple Maple Blues Awards and won 3 – Album Of The Year, Best Harmonica Player and Songwriter Of The Year. He’s nominated in those latter two categories again his year. In 2016 Paul won the Juno for Best Blues Album for “Ride The One”. A number of Paul’s songs have also appeared in feature films and Coca-Cola chose “I’m A Criminal” from Rattlebag for one of their ad campaigns. Paul’s dedication to widening the landscape of the Blues led him to create the Cobalt Prize which is given out annually at the Maple Blues Awards to an artist who best represents the growth and vitality of Blues music.

For this appearance Paul is joined by two fabulous guitarists - long time friend and fellow member of The Sidemen Kyle Ferguson and multiple Juno and Maple Blues Award winner Steve Marriner of MonkeyJunk fame.
